The\u00a0ITQ GmbH<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in collaboration with the Canary Islands\u00a0Dr Stetter ITQ<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0from the\u00a012 to 15 March 2025<\/strong>\u00a0around\u00a0600 people interested in technology<\/strong>\u00a0from the\u00a0the whole world<\/strong>\u00a0to the\u00a0SMART GREEN ISLAND MAKEATHON<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to Gran Canaria. The MAKEATHON is the\u00a0International Innovation Festival<\/strong>\u00a0ITQ GmbH, with the aim of inspiring young people to take an interest in technology and to develop innovative, sustainable ideas for\u00a0Digitalisation<\/strong>\u00a0to promote. Whilst young students\u00a0for four days<\/strong>\u00a0together with representatives of well-known sponsors at\u00a0innovative prototypes<\/strong>\u00a0work, the younger generation can, at\u00a0Technical workshops<\/strong>\u00a0show off their skills. The\u00a0SMART GREEN ISLAND MAKEATHON<\/strong>\u00a0promotes technological literacy amongst all generations for a\u00a0a sustainable future<\/strong>\u00a0and enables, as\u00a0Networking event<\/strong>\u00a0the exchange between young talent and businesses. This makes the MAKEATHON a\u00a0Recruitment event<\/strong>\u00a0of a special kind.<\/p>\n

This year, at the Infecar de Feria exhibition centre,\u00a0100 representatives from industry and the research and academic sectors, alongside 250 students from a wide range of disciplines<\/strong>. The students come from\u00a046 universities\/vocational colleges<\/strong>\u00a0and come from\u00a030 countries<\/strong>\u00a0(including not only Europe but also Africa, Asia and South America). Over the course of four days, the participants will\u00a0creative ideas<\/strong>\u00a0towards a more sustainable future\u00a0Prototypes<\/strong>\u00a0implement. To this end, they will receive \u2018Industry Challenges\u2019 from the participating sponsors in the fields of\u00a0Smart Green Mobility \/ Automation \/ Production \/ Energy and Smart Green Logistics.<\/strong>\u00a0Working in interdisciplinary teams, they develop projects with the support of sponsors\u00a0innovative solutions<\/strong>\u00a0for\u00a0environmentally friendly logistics processes, intelligent product and waste management, and recycling processes.<\/strong>\u00a0Among other things, they can\u00a0sustainable packaging made from banana fibres<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0modular water metering systems<\/strong>\u00a0developing solutions for a future that conserves resources. The focus is also on challenges relating to PET recycling and reuse in industry, as well as autonomous driving for waste management logistics. In doing so, they have access to state-of-the-art technologies provided by sponsors from the fields of\u00a0Robotics, Automation and Artificial Intelligence<\/strong>\u00a0available.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The workshops are organised by the\u00a0Gerda Stetter Foundation: \u201eTechnology is fun!\u201c<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>as part of the EU-funded research project\u00a0\u201eEduDemoS\u201c<\/strong><\/a>, the Canary Islands\u2019\u00a0The Sergio Alonso Foundation<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Dolde Engineering<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0as well as participating German universities. The focus is on the following topics:\u00a0Robotics, programming and electronics<\/strong>\u00a0with the\u00a0Focus on sustainability.<\/strong><\/p>\n
