Technology is only truly understood when it can be tried out. That is why, since 2011, ITQ has been running its own technology workshops for children and young people worldwide – not as a pastime, but out of conviction: growth requires innovation, and innovation requires well-educated minds. Anyone who wants to help shape the minds of tomorrow must invest in their education today.
The key difference: our ‘coach-the-coach’ principle. Experienced engineers train students to become technology coaches, who pass on their enthusiasm to children and young people with fresh vigour – and, in the next step, even pass on their knowledge to younger classmates. This creates a transfer of knowledge that reinforces itself from workshop to workshop. The programme utilises (mini) robots, LEGO Mindstorms EV3, LEGO WeDo Education, Minecraft and EduDemos, as well as wood-turning and soldering stations – complemented by current topics such as coding, artificial intelligence and the circular economy.

ITQ Technical Workshops
„Growth requires innovation, and innovation requires well-educated people. That is why, as a company, we take responsibility for the next generation – not just for the sake of it, but because we believe in it.“
In many educational and learning contexts, technology remains an abstract concept. Concepts are explained, but not experienced in practice. This results in a reluctance to engage, a lack of interest and limited long-term learning outcomes. At the same time, more than one in three occupational groups in Germany is already classified as a shortage occupation, particularly in the STEM sector – and the trend is rising.
This is exactly where ITQ comes in: technical concepts are brought to life through practical tasks, hands-on building, testing and experimentation – supported by technical coaches who are themselves still in the middle of their own studies and know exactly how to engage with young people. In this way, the next generation grows at the same pace as the technology they will one day help to shape.
