On 15 October 2026, the West Bavaria Technology Centre (TCW) in Nördlingen A specialist presentation by our Senior Consultant, M.Sc. Michael Enslin, on the topic of „The Cyber Resilience Act – Target Year 2027: The security clock is ticking for industrial automation“ will take place.
This event offers companies in the industrial automation sector a concise overview of the European Union’s new regulatory requirements in the field of cyber security. With the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), which will come into force in December 2027, manufacturers and operators of networked systems face far-reaching challenges. In particular, control systems, sensors, drives and entire production facilities are increasingly becoming the focus of regulation.
In his presentation, our Senior Consultant, M.Sc. Michael Enslin, highlights which specific products and systems are affected and what measures companies should be taking now to ensure they can continue to offer their products on the EU market in the future. In particular, the industry standard IEC 62443 is presented as a tried-and-tested framework that enables companies – particularly small and medium-sized enterprises – to implement cyber security requirements in a structured and cost-effective manner.
The focus is on practical examples and concrete solutions from the field of industrial automation. These include, amongst other things, secure machine communication using certificate-based encryption, centralised authentication via modern identity providers, systematic vulnerability scanning, and the use of a Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) to ensure transparency regarding software components.
The presentation not only provides a thorough introduction to the CRA’s requirements, but also offers valuable insights into how organisations can make strategic use of the time remaining until 2027 – as a basis for compliance and for sustainably strengthening their cyber resilience.
