Digital installation wizard for machine installation

Digital installation wizard for machine installation

Challenge

The increasing complexity of modern machinery and plant, together with the growing demand for efficiency and error reduction, presents companies with new challenges when installing decentralised automation systems. The installation of electrical components in machinery and plant is often prone to errors, time-consuming and inadequately documented. A lack of transparency and manual processes hinder efficient implementation and lead to additional effort during commissioning and maintenance.

The aim of the project was therefore to simplify the installation process in the long term by means of a digital solution, whilst at the same time improving transparency and quality.

ITQ solution

ITQ supported Murrelektronik in the development of this innovative software product uKonn-X. As a digital installation assistant, uKonn-X guides users step by step through the entire assembly process. By scanning components, relevant information is automatically captured and assigned to the respective installation steps. Intuitive instructions and clear 2D and 3D visualisations support error-free implementation directly at the installation site. Each individual step is digitally confirmed and documented in the system.

Results & Benefits

uKonn-X is a fully digital, visually supported solution that connects all stakeholders throughout the entire product development process. By replacing traditional, centralised wiring concepts with decentralised approaches, significant efficiency gains are realised. At the same time, the system bridges the physical and digital worlds, enabling the holistic optimisation of electrical installation technology:

  • Step-by-step visualisation of the assembly processes to reduce errors and mix-ups
  • Unique identification of all components using scannable codes
  • Context-sensitive support for users directly at the installation site
  • Structured, sequential execution of the assembly process using digital checklists
  • End-to-end, paperless documentation, including change tracking and approval processes
  • Flexible use of various display formats (e.g. CAD, topology, circuit diagram) to provide a comprehensive overview of the process
  • Future-proofing
